Job Description

Johnson’s Group of Companies is looking for a highly organized and proactive Senior Staff Account to support our Accounting & Finance Team in our various lines of business. This role is essential in ensuring smooth operations, managing key administrative tasks, and enabling leadership to focus on strategic priorities.

The Senior Staff Accountant will assist in the financial reporting and analysis of operations for the Johnson’s group of companies’ diverse lines of businesses. The candidate will demonstrate a strong knowledge of financial accounting standards and have responsibility for, but not limited to, accountability of account reconciliation, financial reporting preparation, process development and internal controls monitoring.

Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare journal entries and maintain the general ledger
• Reconcile bank statements and account balances
• Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes
• Support accounts payable and receivable functions as needed
• Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports
• Maintain accurate and organized financial records
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiency
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
• CPA designation (or in progress) strongly preferred
• 3–5 years of accounting experience preferred
• Strong understanding of accounting principles (ASPE)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
• Knowledge of construction accounting software would be an asset
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
